In this example from the Velpic Editor Guide video, let’s add text to Image 1.
Select Image 1 via its timeline below the canvas; that’s (1) on Diagram #AT1 (?)
To add text, click on the [Add Text icon] (2) on the left toolbar. Every time you click on this icon, you add a layer to the slide. A text-box appears on the canvas and its timeline appears under the canvas.
To change text styles, go to the Properties > Text Styles panel on the bottom right (3) to change the characteristics of the text as you wish. You can change text effects, alignment, font, size, opacity (how opaque or transparent it looks), and colour.
To move the text-box to another position on the canvas, click on it and drag.
You may rename the text layer by clicking on its timeline.
Change the duration of the text display, and when the text starts and ends, by lengthening or shortening the teal-coloured portion of the text layer’s timeline.
You may also apply transitions to that layer via the Transitions section of the Properties panel on the right of the canvas.
Click [Save Lesson] after applying a text layer to the slide.
And that is how you add a text layer to your slide.
Multimedia learning is more effective if you add only words, bullet points, sentence fragments or short sentences you wish to highlight. The rest of your story can be told via the accompanying voiceover. Give your viewers enough time to read the text.
For a video presentation, use sans serif fonts by default as they are easier to read on a screen. You could highlight one or two words in serif font if the font size is very large. Keep serif fonts for text-heavy printed material.
